Dark Moon Rocks Radio
Your weekly dose of moonlight, mystery, and mildly organised chaos.
🌙 This Week on the Dark Moon Rocks Morning Show...
The mornings have been drifting in gently from the canal this week with cool breezes, shifting skies, interesting water refections and the occasional suspiciously philosophical lonely swan keeping watch over proceedings.
We've been talking about healing, adaptation, and what happens when life refuses to return to the shape it once was. About learning to think sideways instead of backwards. About rebuilding rather than simply recovering.
There has been music from across the Dark Moon universe, reflections from the towpath, conversations about strange times and stranger worlds, and the usual blend of moonlight, curiosity and mildly organised chaos.
We've also been welcoming new arrivals to the growing Dark Moon family, including Solar Pulse News for those wanting a different perspective on the world, and Forbidden Moons for those who prefer to wander the darker and more controversial pathways of history, psychology and culture.
Some mornings have been bright and energetic… others have been slower, quieter affairs fuelled largely by tea, determination, and negotiations with the migraine fairy. Such is life on the waterways.
As always you'll find stories, music, conversations and the occasional existential ramble drifting out across the airwaves from our floating studio on the canal.
Pull up a chair, pour yourself something warm, and come and join us.
The Moon is up. The kettle is on. The radio is waiting.

Dispatches From The Chaos Laboratory
The Chaos Laboratory remains exactly as advertised.
There are wires everywhere, notebooks breeding quietly in corners, at least three half-finished projects pretending they aren't related to one another, and somewhere in the middle of it all a slightly sleep-deprived confused woman on a narrowboat is attempting to build a media empire powered mostly by stubbornness, solar panels and questionable amounts of tea.
Progress, however, is absolutely happening.
The biggest shift lately has been accepting something I should probably have known all along… I am not a machine… I am not designed for spreadsheets, repetitive tasks, endless editing or spending six hours cuting thirty second clips from two hour podcasts while listening to my own voice over and over until I start sounding like an angry crow arguing with itself.
Fortunately, shiny robots are surprisingly good at that sort of thing… I call codex the shiny robot as it pretty much goes ‘beep beep’.
The grand experiment of human imagination and artificial intelligence learning to work together continues. I create the stories, ideas, songs, podcasts and strange rabbit holes. The robots organise, edit, transcribe, sort, shuffle and generally stop the whole thing collapsing into a glitter-covered singularity event.
Honestly, it feels less like replacing humans and more like finally finding an apprentice who doesn't need tea breaks. shhhh…. it does the code for me.. LOL
The Dark Moon universe continues to spread quietly across the internet. The radio station grows piece by piece. The podcasts multiply while nobody is looking.
Solar Pulse News continues preparing to shine a torch into the darker corners of modern media narratives, while Forbidden Moons sharpens its claws behind the paywall for conversations that are too human, too strange or too uncomfortable for polite company.
Meanwhile, the idea of The Spiral keeps returning…
Not a social network. Not another algorithmic shouting match.
More like the old internet. Forums. Conversations. Communities built around curiosity rather than outrage. A place for the weird people, the thinkers, the creators, the midnight philosophers and the collectors of odd facts.
The sort of place many of us miss terribly. The technical adventures continue.
The Dark Moon Rocks PWA exists now, though not quite downloadable yet…GRAND ANNOUNCEMENT COMING SOON ….which feels suspiciously close to real software development despite the fact I still occasionally stare at HTML and hope it explains itself if I look concerned enough.
There have been victories. There have been broken images. There has been confusion involving folders and files. There has definitely been muttering at the screen. Progress nevertheless marches onward.
The old Dreamweaver part of my brain occasionally wakes up and squints at the code like an elderly wizard recognising an ancient language it once spoke fluently.
The body, meanwhile, continues its own recovery project.
Stroke recovery is not a straight line. Some days the fog rolls in. Some days the batteries are low. Some days the brain decides that words are optional and concentration is an outrageous request. Some days there are bloody Migraine Fairyies… I will swat her and feed her to the cat if she bothers me again!
Other days the old machinery hums back into life and ideas arrive faster than I can catch them. Those are good days. There are signs of returning things too. Handwriting returning. Ideas connecting again.
Plans stretching further into the future than simply making it through the week.
That matters more than most people realise. The animals continue to supervise operations. The cat remains firmly convinced that he is middle management and conducts regular inspections of keyboards, notebooks and any available lap space.
The dog remains Head of Security and Barking At Things Which May Or May Not Exist. Neither accepts payment…. both work extremely hard.
The radio grows..the songs spread…people are sharing things…listeners are arriving. The Weird Ones are finding each other.
Slowly. Quietly. Naturally
….and perhaps that is how it was always supposed to happen.
The Chaos Laboratory was never meant to become a factory….factories produce products…laboratories produce discoveries.
So for now the experiments continue.
More podcasts….more songs…. more strange ideas…more stories from the towpath…more conversations under moons both full and dark.
The water keeps flowing past the boat…the kingfishers continue their patrols…the solar panels continue their negotiations with British weather.
And somewhere in the middle of all of it, the future is quietly being built one wonderfully chaotic day at a time.

Forbidden Moons
Forbidden Moons explores the stranger, darker and more controversial corners of psychology, history, sexuality and culture. Definitely not one for little ears.
After illness, burnout, grief, or unexpected change, many of us spend far too much energy trying to get back to who we used to be. But what if there is no going back?
In this episode I explore the difference between recovery and reconstruction, the challenge of working with a brain that now has its own ideas about pacing, and why intelligence doesn’t disappear when it changes shape.

Which means that round about midday today, while you were standing in a queue for an overpriced flat white wondering why the sky looked faintly insolent, you were in fact basking in 99% of a Strawberry Moon and didn’t even get a loyalty stamp for it. Daylight robbery, frankly. The Moon’s been fully committed to this look since before lunch and nobody’s clapped.

🌕 This week's Strawberry Moon drifted in low over the horizon looking faintly unimpressed with the whole business of being celestial. Despite the name it wasn't pink, strawberry flavoured, or available in supermarkets. This year it arrived as a micromoon too, sitting at its furthest point from Earth and appearing slightly smaller and dimmer than usual. A quiet moon, a distant moon, and perhaps exactly the sort of moon needed for sitting by the water wondering where the year disappeared to.
